Shen school board needs more leadership in making right choices
I am proud to write this letter in support of Rebecca Telesh for the Shenendehowa School Board. These are tough times and school districts, like all of us, are being forced to make difficult decisions. We need leaders whom we can trust to make the right choices. Rebecca Telesh will bring leadership and accountability to the school board.
As a teacher, I know how important it is to have the support of the school board. Taking care of students and fiscal responsibility are not mutually exclusive. By working toward greater accountability, Rebecca will ensure that the goals of providing the best learning opportunities for students are achieved in a fiscally responsible manner. Rebecca’s goal of ensuring that resources are allocated to the classroom is essential, because the classroom is where those resources will have the greatest impact on students’ learning.
Having spoken with Rebecca, I firmly support her goal of increased transparency. I look forward to seeing, in a clear manner, where taxpayers’ dollars are being spent. Increased transparency will not only help students in the short term, but will help the district in the long term as the district will actually have a method to properly assess what programs are working, where money is best being spent, and how best to adjust programs and budgets moving forward.
The students, teachers and taxpayers in this district will have no greater ally than Rebecca Telesh. I encourage all of my neighbors to help elect her to the Shenendehowa school board.
